The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention in collaboration with the National Center for Youth in Custody will present its second Webinar on family engagement, “Expanding on the Definition of Family and Engagement to Provide Better and More Effective Services.”
(1) Understand the value of using a broader definition of “family”, to include kinship families and mentors, when designing and implementing family engagement strategies.
(2) Identify the key elements of meaningful engagement with families, such as demonstrating respect, validating the role and impact of families, listening, and providing regular and meaningful access to youth.
