Minnesota is busily planning the 70th Annual United States Deputy Wardens Conference for July 12th-16th in Bloomington.  The conference is at the Minneapolis Airport Marriott which is right next to the Mall of America.  We will have more than 20 training sessions on timely topics such as:

·       Integrated Conflict Management System – learn about an agency-wide approach to address workplace conflict

·       Housing Youthful Offenders in Adult Facilities Under PREA

·       Safety Leadership – overview of promoting a safety-conscious culture agency-wide

·       Restricted housing – panel discussion of reducing/managing long-term behavioral problems

·       Constitutional update – overview of recent court decisions affecting incarcerated offenders

·       Transition Prison to Community (TPC) – an integrated approach to case planning

·       Reducing recidivism – overview of the research and what works

·       Restorative justice – implementing in corrections facilities

·       And many more!

We are also putting together evening activities and family events sure to entertain everyone and highlight the best Minnesota has to offer.  Shuttles from the hotel can take you to the Mall of America, Sealife Aquarium, Waterpark of America, and Ikea.  Young people will enjoy activities such as, the Minnesota Zoo, the Science Museum, and more.  Adults can participate in local sight-seeing and fine dining.
