ABSTRACT: This article, excerpted from a recent Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) report, describes the origins and recommendations of a federal multiagency effort to raise awareness regarding the rising numbers of women with personal histories of violence and trauma who are seeking services from public mental health and substance abuse programs.
