Join the Learning Administrators’ Virtual Community (LAVC) Kick-Off Conference
NIC News & Updates

NIC has launched a new forum on the Corrections Community for learning administrators across the field of corrections. It is called the Learning Administrators' Virtual Community (LAVC) and will open its forum with a kick-off conference online December 5, 2011 from 10 am to 2 pm EST. Dozens of instructors from jails, prisons, and community supervision are already registered, but there is still time to save your seat today. The webinar is open to anyone who administers training in corrections.

Kicking off the event will be a presentation from e-learning expert Jane Bozarth. She will discuss e-learning solutions and trends in the training and development fields and will present from 10:00 am to 11:00 am EST on e-learning solutions and social media for trainers. Bozarth travels around the world as a classroom instructor and is an author and motivational speaker in addition to holding expertise in e-learning.

From 11:00 am to 12:00 noon EST, NIC Correctional Program Specialist Bernie Iszler will describe what the Learning Administrators’ Virtual Community (LAVC) is all about. She will discuss the members who comprise LAVC, the mission of the group, and the LAVC forum.

Also presenting will be NIC Correctional Program Specialist Leslie LeMaster, who will deliver the introductory virtual instructor-led training entitled “Workplace Learning and Staff Performance Enhancement in Corrections: Critical Issues” from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm EST. Content will include the latest research into practice on human learning and its implications for staff performance enhancement (i.e., training and staff development), the impact of technological advances on the workplace learning function (formerly known as the training function), and a look at the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Workplace Learning and Staff Performance Enhancement competency model.
