Good Afternoon Everyone,

Just received this and thought some of you might be interested in the opportunity:

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is pleased to share an open solicitation related to our joint work with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) on Model Practices for Parents in Prisons and Jails, published in 2019.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance is pleased to announce the fiscal year 2021 Child-Friendly Family Visiting Spaces in Jails and Prisons Program. Preserving positive family connections for incarcerated people can yield positive societal benefits in the form of reduced recidivism, less intergenerational criminal justice system involvement, and promotion of healthy child development.

This program will provide grants for construction, renovation, or upgrades of child-friendly family visiting spaces in correctional facilities, as well as for revisions of policies and practices to support child-friendly visitation experiences.

On Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm E.T. BJA will host a webinar to provide guidance to potential applicants to the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s FY 2021 Child-Friendly Family Visiting Spaces in Jails and Prisons Program solicitation.

The presenter will discuss:

  • The purpose and goals of this funding opportunity;
  • Review eligibility requirements;
  • Discuss the application process;
  • And highlight useful resources to assist in applying.

A Q&A session will conclude this webinar.
